Afaf ,,,
was born into the revolution and has closed her eyes to embrace eternity.
Her entire life has been a pleasant dream which started with a revolution only to end in heaven.
Four months and a life time she lived between the first time she opened her eyes and the last time she closed them.
She did not learn how to speak, but wordless she wrote much history…
She did not learn how to walk, but she needed not learn, for in heaven she would fly …
She cried. Even her crying was beautiful and was her only weapon in the face of her victimizer…
When Afaf laughed, it was because she saw angels. When she finally flew to them, they were longing for her…
Perhaps words like ‘freedom’ and ‘homeland’ were too sophisticated for her, but her tranquil sleeping eyes embraced every sense there is in them…
Perhaps words like ‘torture’ and ‘shabiha’ were too cruel for her young age, but the scars on her tiny arm told of their inhumanity…
The wound on her little back was big and deep, as deep as the knife goes in stabbing humanity in the back…
Oh Afaf! May God have mercy on our hearts after you. May He have mercy on your soul and body and on humanity which has died with you…
